- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cooked and pureed beets
- 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, pureed beets, and chopped spinach.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf.
- Place the loaf in a greased bread pan and let it rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let it cool before slicing.
Notes
- This bread is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Try adding seeds for extra crunch!
