- 8 ounces macaroni
- 1 cup tteokbokki (Korean rice cakes)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar and mozzarella)
- 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until golden.
- Slowly add the milk, whisking continuously until smooth and thickened.
- Stir in the cheese until melted and creamy.
- Add the gochujang, soy sauce, garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper.
- Fold in the cooked macaroni and tteokbokki until well combined.
- Serve hot, garnished with green onions.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, adjust the amount of gochujang based on your heat preference.
- This dish can be made ahead and baked before serving.
