Ingredients

- 1 pound ground pork
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large pie crusts
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground pork and beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add onions and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Stir in thyme, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, salt, and pepper. Cook for a few more minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish.
- Scoop the meat mixture into the crust.
- Cover with the second pie crust, sealing the edges and making a few slits on top to let steam escape.
- Brush the top with beaten egg.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Serve with a side of ketchup or mustard for dipping.
- Great for holiday gatherings and family meals.
- This dish can be made ahead of time and frozen.
