Ingredients

  • 12 ounces mostaccioli pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the mostaccioli pasta according to the package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  5. In a skillet, heat marinara sauce over medium heat, then add meatballs and simmer until cooked through.
  6. Mix pasta with the remaining marinara sauce, and add the cooked meatballs on top.
  7. Transfer to a baking dish and sprinkle with additional mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with chopped basil before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add Italian seasoning to the meatball mixture.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and baked just before serving.
  • Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef if desired.
