  • 1 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (about 8 slices)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup whiskey (such as bourbon)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the diced apples, crumbled bacon, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, whiskey, Dijon mustard, cinnamon, black pepper, and salt to the skillet.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cook uncovered for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft and the mixture has thickened to a jam-like consistency.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Transfer the jam to a jar or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
