Ingredients

- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup rice vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Combine sugar, rice vinegar, water, ketchup, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Once boiling, add the cornstarch mixture and stir until thickened.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate.
Notes
- This sauce can be used as a marinade or dipping sauce.
- Adjust the heat by adding more or fewer red pepper flakes.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
