Delicious homemade spaetzle dumplings that are perfect as a side dish or base for a variety of meals.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients until a thick batter forms.
  4. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  5. Using a spaetzle maker or colander, press the batter into the boiling water.
  6. Cook until the dumplings float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain.
  8. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté the dumplings until lightly browned.

Notes

  • Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze uncooked dumplings for up to 2 months.
