Delightfully soft and chewy cookies with a hint of nutmeg and vanilla.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla until well blended.
  5. Gradually blend the dry mixture into the wet mixture.
  6. Drop dough by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
  8. Let cool on wire racks.

  • For best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
