- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 package saltine crackers
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with saltine crackers in a single layer.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until well combined.
- Bring to a boil and let it boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
- Pour the butter mixture over the crackers evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until bubbling.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
- Let chocolate sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread it evenly over the top.
- If using, sprinkle chopped nuts on top of the melted chocolate.
- Let cool completely at room temperature before cutting into pieces.
Notes
- For a variation, you can add peppermint extract for a festive touch.
- This recipe can also be made with graham crackers instead of saltines for a different flavor.
