A delicious twist on the classic Tarte Tatin using rye flour for added depth of flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rye flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 apples, peeled and quartered
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter and stir in the sugar until dissolved.
  3. Add the apples, cinnamon, and water, cooking until the apples are soft.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into a tart pan.
  5. In a bowl, mix the rye flour with a pinch of salt and add to the pan over the apples.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before inverting onto a plate.
