- 1 cup rye flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 apples, peeled and quartered
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, melt the butter and stir in the sugar until dissolved.
- Add the apples, cinnamon, and water, cooking until the apples are soft.
- Pour the apple mixture into a tart pan.
- In a bowl, mix the rye flour with a pinch of salt and add to the pan over the apples.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before inverting onto a plate.
Notes
- Serve warm with ice cream for an added treat.
- This recipe can be made gluten-free by substituting with a gluten-free flour blend.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
