Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheets, place on a baking sheet, and bake until golden brown.
  3. In a saucepan, heat milk and sugar until steaming.
  4. In a bowl, mix egg yolks, flour, and vanilla, then add to the milk mixture and cook until thickened.
  5. Let the cream cool completely.
  6. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form and fold into the custard.
  7. Assemble the cake by layering puff pastry and cream mixture, finishing with a layer of pastry on top.
  8. Chill the cake for at least 4 hours before serving.
