- 4 cups cake flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups raspberry jam
- 2 cups whipped cream
- 1 pound marzipan
- green food coloring (as needed)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare cake pans.
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Sift together the flour and baking powder, then add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk.
- Stir in the vanilla.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Cool the cakes in the pans then turn out onto wire racks.
- Once cool, slice each cake in half horizontally, creating four layers.
- Spread raspberry jam between the layers, followed by whipped cream.
- Stack the layers and cover the entire cake in whipped cream.
- Roll out the marzipan with green food coloring and place over the cake smooth it down.
- Decorate as desired before serving.
Notes
- For a fancier presentation, consider adding fresh fruits or edible flowers as decoration.
- Make sure the cake is fully cooled before covering it with marzipan.
