These peppermint brownies are rich, fudgy, and topped with a delicious peppermint frosting, making them perfect for the holidays.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. Add flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder; mix until just blended.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool before frosting.
  8. Make frosting: in a bowl, combine powdered sugar, butter, peppermint extract, and milk until smooth. Spread over the cooled brownies.
  9. Let the frosting set before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • For extra peppermint flavor, you can add crushed peppermint candies on top of the frosting.
