Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, black pepper, oregano, and basil. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.
- While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Once the meatballs are done, add them to the sauce and let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise, but not all the way through.
- Place a few meatballs in each roll, spooning some of the marinara sauce over them.
- Top each sub with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Place the assembled subs on a baking sheet and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the meatball mixture or the marinara sauce.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option, and use whole wheat hoagie rolls for added fiber.
