Delicious manicotti shells filled with a rich cheese mixture and baked in marinara sauce.

Ingredients

  • 12 manicotti shells
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the manicotti shells according to package instructions until al dente; drain and cool.
  3. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  4. Fill each manicotti shell with the cheese mixture.
  5. Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Arrange filled manicotti over the sauce and top with remaining marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Feel free to add cooked ground beef or sausage to the cheese filling for extra flavor.
  • This dish can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving.
