- 12 manicotti shells
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the manicotti shells according to package instructions until al dente; drain and cool.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Fill each manicotti shell with the cheese mixture.
- Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
- Arrange filled manicotti over the sauce and top with remaining marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to add cooked ground beef or sausage to the cheese filling for extra flavor.
- This dish can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving.
