A delightful and creamy Lebanese dessert made with dates and orange blossom water, perfect for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup pitted Medjool dates, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Chopped pistachios for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the chopped dates with 1/2 cup of water. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the dates are soft. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. In a blender or food processor, combine the softened dates (with any remaining water), Greek yogurt, honey, orange blossom water, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the date mixture until fully combined.
  4. Add the orange zest and fold gently to incorporate.
  5. Spoon the mousse into individual serving dishes or glasses. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to chill and set.
  6. Before serving, garnish with chopped pistachios if desired.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, substitute the heavy cream with coconut cream and the Greek yogurt with a dairy-free yogurt alternative.
  • Add a sprinkle of cinnamon or cardamom to the mousse mixture for an extra layer of flavor.
