Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup pitted Medjool dates, chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Zest of 1 orange
- Chopped pistachios for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the chopped dates with 1/2 cup of water. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the dates are soft. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a blender or food processor, combine the softened dates (with any remaining water), Greek yogurt, honey, orange blossom water, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the date mixture until fully combined.
- Add the orange zest and fold gently to incorporate.
- Spoon the mousse into individual serving dishes or glasses. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to chill and set.
- Before serving, garnish with chopped pistachios if desired.
Notes
- For a vegan version, substitute the heavy cream with coconut cream and the Greek yogurt with a dairy-free yogurt alternative.
- Add a sprinkle of cinnamon or cardamom to the mousse mixture for an extra layer of flavor.
