- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat; drain any fat.
- In a bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, egg, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Spread a layer of marinara sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
- Layer 4 lasagna noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, half of the ground beef, and a third of the mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layers, ending with a final layer of marinara sauce and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute the ground beef with vegetables.
- Can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
