Ingredients

  • 400 grams kataifi pastry
  • 200 grams unsalted butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar for syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Melt the butter and mix it with the kataifi pastry.
  3. Spread half of the kataifi mixture in a baking dish.
  4. In a bowl, whisk the eggs with sugar, yogurt, baking powder, and vanilla.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the kataifi in the baking dish.
  6. Top with the remaining kataifi mixture, and bake for about 45 minutes until golden.
  7. While baking, prepare the syrup by boiling orange juice, water, and sugar for 10 minutes.
  8. Pour the hot syrup over the kataifi dessert after it’s done baking.
  9. Let it cool and absorb the syrup before serving.
