A delicious and hearty Holiday Christmas Lasagna perfect for festive gatherings.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  5. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
  7. Add half of the cooked meat mixture on top of the ricotta, followed by a layer of marinara sauce and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
  8. Repeat the layering process: 4 noodles, remaining ricotta, remaining meat, marinara sauce, and mozzarella cheese.
  9. Top with the final 4 noodles, remaining marinara sauce, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  10. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute the meat with sautéed vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, and zucchini.
  • Add a layer of spinach or kale for extra nutrients and a pop of color.
