Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 hidden coin (wrapped in foil)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, alternating with the milk, and blend well.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Pour half of the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
  8. Place the wrapped coin in the batter and cover with the remaining batter.
  9. Bake for about 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cool before serving.
