- 1 pound penne pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic; cook until softened.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large baking dish, layer half of the penne pasta, half of the meat sauce, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can sprinkle extra herbs on top before serving.
- This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
