Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and dusting them with flour.
- In a spacious bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Incorporate the eggs, milk, canola oil, and vanilla extract into the dry mixture, mixing on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
- Gradually add the boiling water to the batter, stirring gently until you achieve a silky consistency.
- Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans.
- Bake for approximately 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in their pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, carefully slice each cake in half horizontally to create four layers.
- On a serving platter, position the first layer and generously spread whipped cream atop it, followed by a layer of Morello cherries.
- Repeat this layering process with the remaining cake layers, ensuring to finish with a fluffy layer of whipped cream on top.
- Adorn the cake with chocolate curls and any leftover cherries for a stunning presentation.
