Ingredients
Scale
- 1 prime rib roast (about 4-5 pounds)
 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
 - 10 cloves garlic, minced
 - 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
 - 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
 - 2 teaspoons salt
 - 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
 - In a bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper.
 - Rub the garlic butter mixture all over the prime rib roast.
 - Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan and insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part.
 - Roast in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
 - Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting until the desired doneness is reached.
 - Let the roast rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.

Notes
- Let the meat come to room temperature before cooking for a more even roast.
 - Use a meat thermometer for the best accuracy in doneness.
 - Resting the roast is crucial to keep the juices locked in.
