Deliciously sweet and soft cutout sugar cookies, perfect for decorating and sharing with loved ones.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass.
  8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.
  9. Let cool on wire racks before frosting.

Notes

  • Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
  • For best results, chill the dough for at least one hour before rolling out.
