  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons water (as needed for consistency)
  • Optional: additional basil leaves and olive oil for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, basil leaves, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Process the mixture until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  3. If the hummus is too thick, gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  5. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and drizzle with olive oil and garnish with additional basil leaves if desired.
  6. Serve with fresh vegetables, pita chips, or spread on sandwiches.
