- 4 cups milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 egg yolks

Instructions
- In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until steaming.
- In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch until smooth.
- Gradually pour the heated milk into the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.
- Remove from heat, stir in the vanilla extract, and let it cool.
- Serve chilled or warm.

- For a richer flavor, you can add a splash of cream.
- Custard can be served on its own or used in other desserts.
