A delicious Egyptian dish featuring spiced beef wrapped in flaky phyllo pastry.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 package phyllo dough
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef with chopped onions and minced garlic until browned.
  3. Add cumin, cinnamon, paprika, salt, and pepper; stir to combine.
  4. Pour in beef broth and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Lay several sheets of phyllo dough in a greased baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
  6. Spoon the beef mixture over the phyllo layers.
  7. Cover with more phyllo sheets, brushing with butter between layers.
  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add choped parsley and mint to the beef mixture.
  • Serve with a side of yogurt or salad.
