Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan by greasing and dusting it with flour.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well mixed.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. Gradually incorporate the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just blended.
  5. Carefully mix in the boiling water until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. In a small bowl, take 1 cup of the remaining batter and stir in 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
  8. Pour the darker batter over the first layer in the pan and use a knife to create swirls for a marbled effect.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
