- 1 beef roast
- 2 tablespoons ground coffee
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix coffee, cocoa powder, brown sugar, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the beef roast.
- Place the roast in a roasting pan and cook for about 1.5 to 2 hours or until the desired doneness.
- Remove the roast from the pan and let it rest.
- In the same pan, add beef broth and bring to a simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry, then add it to the gravy.
- Stir until the gravy thickens and serve over sliced beef.
Notes
- For a spicier rub, add cayenne pepper to taste.
- Let the roast rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing for easier serving.
- This recipe pairs well with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
