  • Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 beef roast
  • 2 tablespoons coffee grounds
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together coffee grounds, brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the beef roast.
  4. Place the roast in a roasting pan and cook in the preheated oven for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until desired doneness.
  5. Meanwhile, make the gravy: In a pan, combine beef broth and cocoa powder, and whisk until smooth.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix flour with a little water to make a slurry.
  7. Whisk the flour mixture into the broth mixture and cook until thickened.
  8. Once the roast is done, let it rest before slicing and serve with cocoa gravy.

Notes

  • For best results, let the roast rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
  • Adjust the level of cayenne pepper based on your spice preference.
