Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound sponge cake, cut into cubes
- 2 cups custard
- 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 1/2 cup sherry (optional)
- 1/4 cup almonds, slivered
Instructions
- Layer half of the sponge cake cubes in a trifle dish.
- If using, drizzle sherry over the cake.
- Spread half of the custard over the sponge cake.
- Add a layer of mixed berries.
- Add a layer of whipped cream.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Top with slivered almonds and garnish with extra berries.
- Chill the trifle for several hours before serving.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, skip the sherry.
- Can be prepared a day in advance.
