Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup red food coloring
  • 1/4 cup green food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  5. Divide the dough in half, and mix red food coloring into one half and green into the other half.
  6. Roll each half into a log, wrap in wax paper, and chill for at least 2 hours.
  7. Once chilled, slice the logs into rounds and place them on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for about 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
  9. Allow cookies to cool before serving.
