- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup red food coloring
- 1/4 cup green food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
- Divide the dough in half, and mix red food coloring into one half and green into the other half.
- Roll each half into a log, wrap in wax paper, and chill for at least 2 hours.
- Once chilled, slice the logs into rounds and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake for about 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
- Allow cookies to cool before serving.
Notes
- For a more festive touch, drizzle with melted chocolate.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
