- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt to the banana mixture, and mix well.
- Stir in the sugar and beaten egg until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the flour and cocoa powder, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a nuttier flavor, add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
- To make it a bit healthier, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
