Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, browned
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons sugar (for rolling)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for rolling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, brown the butter over medium heat until it is golden brown and has a nutty smell. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and browned butter until smooth.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for rolling.
- Roll the dough into balls, then roll each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place the coated balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can chill the dough for a couple of hours before baking.
