  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples, making sure to remove any wax. Insert a stick into each apple.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
  3. Increase the heat and allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches the hard crack stage (300°F or 150°C).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in food coloring and vanilla.
  5. Quickly dip each apple into the candy mixture, coating it fully. Allow excess to drip off.
  6. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden.

Notes

  • Make sure to use firm apples for the best results.
