Ingredients
Scale
- 6 medium apples
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples, making sure to remove any wax. Insert a stick into each apple.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
- Increase the heat and allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches the hard crack stage (300°F or 150°C).
- Remove from heat and stir in food coloring and vanilla.
- Quickly dip each apple into the candy mixture, coating it fully. Allow excess to drip off.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden.
Notes
- Make sure to use firm apples for the best results.
