- 1 chocolate cake (prepared and cut into cubes)
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup cherries (pitted and halved)
- 1/2 cup chocolate shavings
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla, and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
- In a trifle dish, layer half of the chocolate cake cubes, followed by half of the whipped cream, and half of the cherries.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, whipped cream, and cherries. Top with chocolate shavings.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh cherries during the cherry season.
- You can substitute store-bought chocolate cake for homemade.
- Make sure to chill the trifle well for the best texture.
