- 2 cups beef tallow
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups beef stock
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the beef tallow over medium heat.
- Add the flour and whisk continuously to form a roux, cooking for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
- Slowly pour in the beef stock while continuing to whisk to avoid lumps.
- Add salt and black pepper, stirring until the sauce thickens.
- Serve warm as a base for sauces or gravies.

- Can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
- Use in place of traditional butter or oil in recipes.
