  • 3 ripe bananas mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup Nutella for frosting
  • 1/2 cup butter for frosting, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar for frosting
  • 1 tablespoon milk for frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and mashed bananas; mix until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, alternating with buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. For the frosting, beat together the softened butter and Nutella until smooth.
  10. Gradually add the powdered sugar and milk, mixing until creamy.
  11. Once the cake is cool, spread the Nutella buttercream evenly on top.
