Discover this easy recipe for Banana Bread Brownies that combines the flavors of banana bread and brownies into a delicious treat.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 9 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2-3 medium bananas)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter. Mix until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the banana mixture, stirring until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Fold in the chopped nuts and chocolate chips if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before lifting it out using the parchment paper.
  9. Allow the brownies to cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour or almond flour.
  • Add a teaspoon of cinnamon or a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • You can also swirl in some peanut butter or Nutella before baking for a delicious twist.
