A deliciously creamy baked gratin made with fresh courgettes and cheese.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium courgettes, sliced
  • 1 cup grated cheese (such as Gruyère or Parmesan)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
  3. Add the sliced courgettes to the skillet and cook for a few minutes until slightly tender.
  4. In a baking dish, layer the courgette mixture and sprinkle cheese between the layers.
  5. Pour the heavy cream over the top and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half.
