Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add egg yolk and mix until dough forms. Press into a tart pan.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes, then let it cool.
  6. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just boiling.
  7. Pour over chopped chocolate and let sit for 5 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  8. In a bowl, whisk together eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  9. Add the chocolate mixture and vanilla extract, whisking until combined.
  10. Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled tart crust.
  11. Bake for 25 minutes, then let it cool before serving.
