Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook ground beef with onions and garlic over medium heat until browned.
  2. Stir in cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper; remove from heat and let cool.
  3. In a bowl, combine flour and butter, then add cold water to form a dough.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut it into circles.
  5. Place a spoonful of the beef filling on one half of each circle.
  6. Fold the dough over and seal the edges, using a fork to crimp.
  7. Brush with beaten egg and bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add diced olives or hard-boiled eggs to the beef mixture.
  • Serve with chimichurri sauce for dipping.
