A delicious twist on traditional apple pie, this Fillo Cake combines flaky pastry with spiced apple filling.

Ingredients

  • 8 fillo pastry sheets
  • 4 cups sliced apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Brush a baking dish with melted butter and layer 4 sheets of fillo, brushing each with butter.
  4. Add the apple mixture and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
  5. Layer the remaining fillo sheets on top, brushing with butter.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Let cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add some vanilla extract to the apple filling.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream for a delightful dessert.
