  • 2 cups chopped onions
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 4 cups bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter and sauté the onions and celery until softened.
  3. Mix in the diced apples, bread crumbs, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Slowly add chicken broth until the mixture is moist but not soggy.
  5. Stuff the turkey with the apple and onion mixture and secure the opening.
  6. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and cover with foil.
  7. Roast the turkey for 3 to 4 hours, basting occasionally.
  8. Remove the foil during the last hour of cooking to brown the skin.
  9. Ensure the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  10. Let the turkey rest before carving and serving.
